Born in Vancouver, Canada, Dakota Daulby, 21, discovered his love for acting as a young teen after witnessing the craft at the renowned Canadian acting school, New Image College, in Vancouver. He got his first break after landing the lead role in the 2011 award-winning short film "Why Does God Hate Me?" which was featured at the prestigious New York Film Festival as well as at numerous film festivals across North America and around the world. Upon graduating New Image College, Dakota consistently worked hard at his craft, earning the starring role in the feature film "The Woodcarver," beside John Ratzenburger in 2012, and then going on to co-star in the 2014 big screen adaptation "Sitting On the Edge of Marlene" - from the short story "The Trouble With Marlene" by award-winning Canadian author, Billie Livingston. The film went on to win the Leo Award and Vancouver International Film Festival Emerging Filmmaker Award for its director, Ana Valine. Dakota also starred in the feature film "Black Fly" by director Jason Bourque, and received a Best Actor Leo Award nomination for his performance in the intense Canadian horror thriller. Supporting roles on television have included the series "Spooksville", "iZombie", and a featured recurring role on the fourth season of Oscar® winning executive producer Steven Spielberg's "Falling Skies." In 2015 Dakota earned the "Best Emerging Performer" Award from his peers at UBCP/ACTRA (Union of B.C. Performers/Alliance of Canadian Cinema, Television & Radio Artists) and in 2016 he'll be seen in the Hallmark TV Movie "Pretty Little Addict"; in a guest-starring role opposite Djimon Hounsou on producer M. Night Shyamalan's popular "Wayward Pines" television series; and in the feature film "Warrior's Gate" written and produced by Luc Besson. Often plays abused or troubled protagonist teenagers with dark pasts. In contrast Dakota also often plays strong antagonistic characters. Dakota has traveled to Japan and Taiwan to represent Canada in two separate international modeling competitions. Dakota began acting professionally at the age of 15 and since has gone on to not only star in film and TV, but also write, direct and produce his own content. Being intensely shy as a young kid, Dakota never took drama class in high school. He became interested in the business as a way to gain friends, popularity and affection from girls. As he became older he found a new love for the art of the business and left the other reasons behind. Was the face of Toyo Tires for their 1999 national print and television advertisement campaign. Dakota Daulby and Matthew MacCaull have played brothers twice - once in the horror thriller "Black Fly" and again in the superhero film noir "Roar". Each were nominated in the 2015 Leo Awards for Best Male Lead for their work in both films. Dyed his hair for the first time for the role of Jake Henson in the horror thriller "Black Fly". Has never broken any bones. Dakota helped develop the Phrike Film Festival, which is a Vancouver based 72 horror competition. In 2014 Dakota was announced as the official spokesperson and MC of the festival. His good friend and Falling Skies cast-mate Doug Jones also also an official judge of the festival. Dakota has two sisters. The older and professional model and the younger an amateur hockey player. Started writing scripts at the age of 16 and directed his first film at the age of 17.
